14th Competition – 2020

The 14th International piano competition of Orléans will take place from April 16th to 26th 2020,
at the Salle de l’Institut and at the Théâtre of Orléans – France.


Focused on the contemporary repertoire, the competition will be open to pianists of all nationalities, born from January 1st, 1984.

It is made up of fours rounds open to the public.

As each edition, a mandatory piano piece is commissioned to a worldwide renowned composer in order to enrich the contemporary repertoire.

Important information – Rules updated (July 2019):

FIRST ROUND: Please note a change in the timings — we indeed allow 20-25 minutes for the 1st round, instead of 25/30 minutes. Sorry for the error in the rules.

FINAL: Between 30 and 40 minutes

● Agata Zubel, Chamber piano concerto – for piano(s) and ensemble (2018) – 13’
With the Ensemble intercontemporain – Simon Proust, conductor – see. p. 4

● Francis Poulenc, Sextuor pour piano et vents op.100 : 1. Allegro vivace (1939) – 8’
With the Soloists of the Orchestre Symphonique d’Orléans

● Complete the programme with one piece composed between 1900 and 2020 – between 9 and 19 minutes. Free choice of the candidate.
